Beautiful house

This week I decorated the conservatory. When I started putting on the colour I was a bit worried it was a bit care home/ hospital! But now the 3 coats have dried and the horrible, dirty magnolia isn't showing through anymore I think it looks lovely. Before I painted the window sills and skirting boards were an orange, untreated, cheap wood. Now it's a bright white the place looks bigger and cleaner. We can now use this space more as a lounge. Especially in the Autumn when it's not too hot for Rebecca and as a lovely adult space for a glass of wine in the evening.

Rebecca had her jabs on Monday. She was great about it and the thing that really hurt were the plasters that we had to take off today. She's been so smiley and happy this week. She is desperate to sit up and we have to find inventive ways to entertain her. She loved sitting in the blow-up ring but I worry about her back, so we didn't do it for long.Rebecca's choice of sleeping spot - on change mat with muslin as a cover. Is this the equivalent of sleeping in the loo?New sock/shoes from Mum.Lots of smiles!

In the garden

I was out in the garden yesterday making it a bit neater - especially the front, which was a bit embarrassing in a street of beautiful gardens. I bought some cheap plants in the sales and put them into the front border. They were a bit scrappy looking but I am sure they will be fine. The lavender smells amazing! Everything in the back is growing like mad. The plants love the sunny spot and are flowering and getting huge. I even grew some tomatoes and am quite proud of my first crop. I mowed the lawns and the next job is to sort our deck. We have bought some decking paint and have a pressure hose from Gareth's so if the weather cheers up I will get on to that today!

Smiling and talking

Rebecca loves to smile at herself in her mirror. She is starting to get some really good sounds, but finds it frustrating sometimes. It's hard to get them on video as they just pop out unexpected!

Lots of visits

On Saturday we went to see Rob and Jen's new baby in Northampton. Rebecca was amazing in the car and didn't cry one bit. She was a bit overwhelmed in the service station with all the people but she soon got on with it.On Monday we went to see Gem's baby Finley. It was so cute to get all the cousins together for a photo. They all seemed to get on ok and Rosie was very well-behaved, despite almost sitting on the babies when she wanted to lie in the middle of them.

Holidays

This week Rebecca has had a nasty cold and has been really bunged up. At last she seems to be a bit more settled and we have had a lovely day today. She has just discovered her thumb and but keeps having a bit of a battle to suck it each time she remembers. She's doing lots of chatting now. It's really hard to know when she is upset or just making sounds and I think I probably pick her up too often when she is perfectly happy on her mat. We have a busy weekend - visiting Rob and Jen's new baby and Gareth's parents taking us out for lunch on Sunday. The best thing is that Gareth is on holiday now and we can spend the summer together doing lots of fun family stuff. I am sure he would be far less tired going to work though!

Lots of smiles

I've been trying really hard to catch a smile on camera but every time I pick it up she gets too distracted by it. Here are some almost smiles!

6 weeks old

Today I woke up to find Rebecca smiling at me from her cot. It made up for the lack of sleep! She continued to smile all morning - it's nice to see real smiles. She's really shattered as she hasn't slept all night. We both either have hay fever or a cold and sleeping for her is pretty hard at night time. Hopefully we'll both feel better tonight and finally get a good sleep.
