20 week scan

I can't believe the wait up to my 12 week scan took so long, then the 20 week one came round so quickly. It was amazing to see the baby in so much detail. It was flipping about all over the place and since yesterday morning has not stopped moving. It must be excited too! We're off to start shopping now that we've had good news that everything is as it should be. It's such a relief. I just hope the rest of my pregnancy will be as easy as it already has been. I am really enjoying my expanding belly now (but am sure I will be fed up of it soon once it gets really massive)!

A family Christmas

We have had an excellent Christmas holiday so far, with far too much yummy food. It was the first time we were all together in one place on Christmas day for at least 6 years. We had the most amazing meal, with plenty of yummy meat and potatoes. Great cooking Gem and Tim! It was so nice to have a little one around to really enjoy opening a stocking and playing with toys. Rosie was totally spoiled, but loved her presents, especially her little table and chair set.

Christmas on its way!

I've been so busy today. I have managed to make a Christmas pudding, mince meat, mince pies, a bolognaise (for this week, clean the house and put up the tree. It's now looking nice and Christmassy and stinks of brandy! The pudding is my own modified recipe, with no nuts and a few tweaks as I was missing some ingredients. I hope it will taste ok. I now need to keep watering it with brandy over the next week or so. Just one more full week of school. I can't wait for the holidays!

Another day of snow

Another snow day (and one again tomorrow). It's really been snowing hard today and looks lovely outside. Today we had lunch at the pub up the road. It was really nice walking in the snow as it is soft and deep and not slippy. I have been busy this afternoon making meatballs for dinner and mince pies and cheese straws for Christmas. Great fun!

Snow day!

I am loving the snow day. I can't believe my school and Gareth's have both closed as they are renowned for not closing under any condition! Lying in bed with the curtains open and watching the snow fall feels so wintery. You can't tell where the pavement ends and the road starts. It looks so fresh and clean. It's great to have an extra day off as my throat is still sore, but I probably would have gone into school. So I am going to really rest up and get better. I have even moved my duvet into the lounge as I used to as a kid.

Happy snow day!

We went for dinner at Gem's house as Mum is visiting this weekend. Rosie riffled through my bag as she always does. She gave me a scare when she found my memory stick and tried to eat it. Babies are so worrying. She liked wearing my gloves again. I think it's quite a comedy look for her! I woke up very early this morning and moved into the lounge to give Gareth a break from my coughing and hacking. I have had a horrible cold this week. But I found a lovely surprise as everything is white outside. I hung up my Christmas bunting from Mum to get in the December mood. It's about all we have to decorate the house, so we should really start looking for a tree etc.

The Smiths are sick

I popped in on Saturday to see Gem as she was really ill with a nasty tummy bug, which then Tim also got (luckily, somehow I avoided it). As always Rosie was obsessed with technology. She liked the game where I took a picture of her or me and she then told me which one of us it was after looking at the picture. She is so clever! I can't believe how big she is getting - she even went to blow her own nose after the snotty picture. Hopefully everyone is well now!

Big hands

80s Night

We spent Saturday night away near Warrington for our friend's 30th birthday. Everyone really paid attention to their costumes. It was at a Chinese restaurant and the food was amazing. I could hardly move by the end of it. It was the first time I had eaten Chinese for about ten years as I am always scared of nuts in the food, but they were really helpful and I could eat mostly everything! The duck pancakes were so yummy.
